Think about punching, throwing a ball, or even just turning to look behind you while driving – these all involve rotation. But also consider what happens when you carry a heavy bag on one side, or when you’re pushing a stubborn door from an angle – your core is actively resisting the urge to twist and collapse. This ability to stabilize against rotational forces is absolutely critical for spinal health, preventing your lower back from taking on shearing stress it’s not designed to handle.

One of the best foundational anti-rotational exercises is the Bird-Dog. This looks simple, but its effectiveness lies in its precision. Start on all fours, hands under shoulders, knees under hips.
